The Night

They say the night has its own

and that night it had me feeling my face on the tar road

they jacked me, took my memory and my phone

I woke up feeling cold and watched the drama unfold

as I stared deep into the mirror,

looking passed my disfigured, face and straight to my soul

like nigger? Is this how you wanna roll

getting drunk and loosing control

until you ultimately get owned - by the night?

You are of light and illuminate what is dark

and that’s why you ain’t hard to find…to fight…

My mother saw my face and highlighted the spiral that I take

When more money I make, It never materializes into anything great

Just a couple of threads and empty memories from coming home late

She told me she tried everything to raise me the right way

and I went the opposite, left church and sunk into the dead of the night

Coming back disfigured and broke, feeling sicker than most

who lay in hospital  waiting for attention in rows

I have to change, It’s not working out for me

I hate having to see the pain in my parents eyes

and to feel their sharpend tongues pierce into the depth of my heart

I don’t want perfection, I just want to grow up inside

and leave the night aside, it has never loved me

slowly watching me weaken

I will change, serve my family and my community with gratitude and respect

serve myself with love until there’s nothing left of my flesh

I will change…

But first, I must leave the night.

WHEN I BECAME WE

image

The halos spun in different directions making celestial sounds which the human ear cannot register. We floated in the center wondering what lays beneath us on the blue planet and the only way to find out would be to escape together, hand in hand and bonded by our heavenly sin.

In the heavens it is forbidden to go near the halos let alone take a view of planet earth, the elders promised eternal suffering for such acts, not yours but the eternal suffering of a soul you love. We are souls. We travel realms beyond the earth preserving the universe. We have no shape nor texture, no form and in fact if I had to describe our nature to you humans it would remind you of home and since you have made your escape to earth I doubt you will want to remember the tingle and the flow of all matter through every particle of your being without damage.

Salima and I are souls in love, such intense love that we have disobeyed all laws that were laid millions of years ago to preserve our Godly nature. We love each other and want to exist for each other, serving and nurturing each other and not some archaic laws that were cast into the stars before our inception! It is so that during prayer we slipped away following the glow of the halos and its magnetic sounds, flowing through space matter and barriers of time.

We finally reached the 9 Halos and proceeded to stare down while the globe reflected an aluminous blue on our form. “Salima, we have come this far, the future waits for us down there, forbidden as it may we will become humans and enjoy all the fruits of the world that the ignorant Gods keep away from our delight” I said in passion. “Salima” I exclaimed, “Yes, Kalima” she responded. “Is that your answer or a question my love?” I followed. She opened up her soul and the planets shook - alerting the elders of our deceit - I caved into her and we shot through the stratosphere destined for earth.

“The crime of living was life itself. A forbidden fruit that we bit in the heavens as our innate curiousity fooled us. When I became WE and I became weak.” Kalima the soul.
